KENYA'S NATIONAL PARKS AND RESERVES.
Masai Mara: Its regarded as the jewel of Kenya’s wildlife viewing areas. It covers an area of over 1500 square km. Masai Mara is one of the most popular tourism destinations in Kenya situated in the great Rift Valley in primarily open grassland.

Nowhere else in Africa is wildlife more abundant hence opportunity to see big five (buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion and rhino).
  
In addition to other game animals wildebeest are by far the dominant inhabitants of the Masai Mara.  

Great wildebeest migration starts in August - October each year. There is plenty of accommodation options both inside and outside the reserve, lodges, camps and temporary tents . Balloon safaris are available as well.
Tsavo parks: Tsavo East is the best for photographers with its fabulous light and unbelievable views, there are many elephants, leopards, cheetahs, buffaloes, lions etc. Elephants glow red after dusk , blowing the vivid red dust through their trunks over their bodies.  
Tsavo west contains a diversity of habitats, wildlife and mountainous scenic landscape. It has more varied of topography and more diverse array of habitats than neighbour.  
There is a rhino sanctuary and at Mzima Springs, there is opportunity to view animals under water through a glass house, man eaters caves where 2 lions were shot in Tsavo by Col Patterson.  
NAKURU PARK: It covers an area of 188sq km. The park provides the visitors with one of the Kenya’s best known images of birds. Thousands of flamingoes join into a massive flock that fringe the shores of this soda lake - a pursing pink swathe of life that carpet the waters. The flamingoes are a breathtaking sight. This is an important sanctuary for rhino, both black and white, they are found under the acacias. There are also Rothschild giraffe, buffalo, and leopard.  
Mt Kenya:
Its an imposing extinct volcano dominating the landscape of the Kenyan highlands. The park includes a variety of habitats ranging from higher forest bamboo, alphine, moorlands, glaciers, Terries and glacial moraines.  

Mt Kenya national reserve is for those who are adventurous and strong enough to take the 5199mclimbing to the top of the Mt Kenya - the highest mountain in Kenya and second in Africa after Mt Kilimanjaro.

The reserve straddles the equator and entire mountain contours forms the park. Mountain climbers are advised to acclimatize before climbing to reduce risk of altitude sickness. The best months for climbing are January, February, August and September.  
Hell's gate:
Its situated in the environs of l Naivasha.
It is characterized by diverse topography and geological scenery.

Its an important home of lammergeyer. Walking safari and bike cycling is common in the area.

There are many camps and lodges near L. Naivasha .  
NAIROBI NATIONAL PARK:   
It’s the only protected area in the world with the variety of animals and birds close to the city.

The park is 117sq km, it has a diversity of environments with characteristic fauna and flora. The park has a rich diverse birdlife, which migrate in seasons.

It also has rhino sanctuary where visitors can see a black rhino in its natural habitat.
MERU NATIONAL PARK:  
The Meru national park holds the Adamson falls, leopard rock, and great wildlife.

It was here where George and Joy Adamson released several hand-reared animals including the son of the famous lioness Elsa and their cheetah Pippa.

The key attractions at the park are the former home of Joy and George Adamson and Elsa the lioness, Gravy’s zebra, elephant, cheetah, leopard, reticulated giraffe, buffalo, python and hippo.  
SAMBURU AND SABA GAME RESERVES:  
It is accessible on the northern frontier by fauna sanctuaries. There are 3 reserves, Samburu reserve, buffalo springs and Shaba reserve. Permanent water is available from the 20m of the river which ensures that an abundant of wildlife exists at the reserve all the time  
 
L BOGORIA NATIONAL RESERVE:  
Its located in the Ndendelel escarpment. Visitors to the lake get an opportunity to marvel at the hot springs and even get to boil eggs, there are plenty of birdlife and wildlife including lesser kudu and dik dik.  
 
SHIMBA HILLS RESERVE:  
Shimba hills are a dissected plateau that ascends steeply from the coastal plains. The surrounding escarpment rises from around 1230-300m across the bulk of the plateau and as high as 450m at Marare and Pengo hills. Its home to the rare shable antelopes, elephants, buffaloes etc. There are no cats at shimba hills. Guests can stay overnight at Shimba hills rain forest lodge.  
Aberdare park: The Aberdare is an isolated volcanic range that forms the eastern wall of the Rift Valley. the topography is diverse with deep ravines that cut through the forest. There are many clear streams and waterfalls.  
The Aberdare are an important water catchment area providing water to the Tana and Athi rivers and part of central .The park is home to most of the larger animals - black rhino, rare bongo, forest hog, wild dog, leopards, elephants and endemic bird species.
